SRS Interceptor

Why choose the SRS EFI over other market offerings?

There are a number of factors to consider when selecting a rooftop grease collection system. The most important factor for builders, insurance companies, fire regulators and others is that the product is UL Listed and NFPA 96 compliant.
UL Listed is an organization that tests products in a lab setting to determine that they meet UL standards for the category the product is manufactured for. In the case of a rooftop grease collection system, it is tested for effectiveness, fire proof capability and weight load.
NFPA 96 is a regulation by the National Fire Protection Association. NFPA 96: 7.8.2.1 states:
The Exhaust Fan Interceptor separates the oil from the water. The oil remains in the EFI and clean water flows freely from the unit. It uses the simple principle that oil floats on water. It does not need filters, pads, pillows or expensive retrofitting of the exhaust system to capture grease.

Rooftop terminations shall be arranged with or provided with the following: (4) The ability to drain grease out of any traps or low points formed in the fan or duct near the termination of the system into a collection container that is non-combustible, closed, rainproof, structurally sound for the service to which it is applied, and will not sustain combustion. (5) A grease collection device that is applied to exhaust systems that does not inhibit the performance of any fan.

We know that the Flame Gard EFI meets these requirements – We designed the EFI using these requirements!

Most other products offered on the market do not meet these requirements!

Other products may initially meet these requirements but fail after one service cleaning. Why? This is because they use a fire retardant that can wash off following a service cleaning – meaning replacement and more cost to the customer.

The Flame Gard EFI does not use chemicals to prevent fire – it is made of stainless steel. It will always be protecting your customer’s property.

The EFI does not need costly maintenance, pads, pillows or filters! It does not need expensive retrofitting of the existing exhaust system to function. It installs with only a few screws in a few minutes!

It was designed using the simple principle that oil and grease float on water! It separates the oil and grease from the water and expels only water!

When considering a rooftop grease capture solution, review this checklist:

  • Is it UL Listed?
  • Is it NFPA 96 compliant?
  • Does it require filters, pillows or pads? (The EFI does not require expensive maintenance or filters)
  • Is it a non-combustible?
  • Is it closed?
  • Is it rainproof?
  • Does it trap grease?
  • Does it allow for capture of waste water during service cleaning? (the EFI does allow capturing this toxic mix)
